a craving for another language

Yesterday and today, I read French Lessons, a memoir by Alice Kaplan. Wow! I have never found an author like her before. I want to learn French, and it's all her fault.

It's not just about French, of course. But her life revolves around it, her yearning to be more French than a native. It's about identity, and communication.

I really enjoyed it, and I am saving it for Sarah to read. Yet another reason to learn French. It would be another polished facet of our relationship.
