American Gods - by Neil Gaiman

This is the best book I have read in quite a while. Of course I am biased, since I love his short stories and the Sandman comics. It posits that the gods are real, and that the American settlers brought them over with them. What happens when the worship stops? When we start to pray to our TVs, the internet, our cars?

You have to read this book.

"Hey," said Shadow. "Huginn or Muninn, or whoever you are."
The bird turned, head tipped, suspiciously, on one side, and it stared at him with bright eyes.
"Say 'Nevermore,'" said Shadow.
"Fuck you," said the raven. It said nothing else as they went through the woodland together.

This book made me burst out laughing a few times while I read it.
