Let's see... I went and saw Spiderman today with my father. I thought it was very good. When Maryjane was asking Peter what he told Spiderman about her, I got goosebumps. What he said to her was poetry, and it made me feel a little sad(der) about not having someone to say things like that to.
The Peter Murphy concert was on Tuesday night. Michael Sheehy was the opening act, and his lyrics were VERY depressing, but quite good for the most part. I talked to him after his set, and asked his opinion on which album of his I should buy, since they were selling them in the lobby. He gave his opinion, and very was happy that I was supporting his drinking and whoring, which is how he presented the cash profits that any sales would get him. I bought the Ill Gotten Gains CD, in case anyone knows who he is. Here's a link, if you want to give him a listen: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/michaeljsheehy.html
Peter Murphy was very good as well. Peter seemed very strange, but all there anyways. He and his band seemed to enjoy themselves the entire time, and my only complaint is that he didn't do either of my two favorites (Marlene Dietrich's Favourite Poem and Cascade). He did all of the songs off of Dust (I think), as well as Crystal Wrists, Roll Call, Cuts You Up, Gliding Like a Whale, Our Secret Garden (I think - I know he only did one song off of Holy Smoke). He was very personable and even stopped for a question and answer period in the middle. For one of the new songs, he moved backstage and let a girl from the audience get up and dance for it! She was very happy, and was also a reasonably good belly dancer type. I was satisfied with the performance, and went home happy.
For reading, I have been pretty active. I read the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Deadly Sins, by Lawrence Sanders. I enjoyed them all, and liked having some character continuity for a change. I also went to Showcase Comics for the first time in four months, and bought a lot of comics, as well as two Alan Moore spoken word CDs. I purchased and read Garth Ennis' Punisher collections, Roman Dirge's two Lenore collections, Jhonen Vasquez's Squee collection, Neil Gaiman's comic adaptation of Murder Mysteries(!!!), and caught up on Knights of the Dinner Table and Transmetropolitan. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
Ah, well. Time to check and see if the Magic server is up and running again. I will post again eventually.
